My new MacBook Pro arrives today

I am uber excited today, as my new MacBook Pro will be arriving today.
I had intended on keeping my last MBP (early 2008 model) until Feburary of next year (2010), but a few weeks ago, after thinking about it for a while, I decided to sell it and upgrade now to maximize what I would get for it. As it is, it was two generations ago, and I felt that holding onto it for another 5 months would have cost me a few hundred bucks.
So, I stayed in the 15″ family, and went with the 2.66Ghz with 4GB of RAM, 320GB 5,200 RPM HDD (I’ll upgrade it to the 500GB 7,200), and dual Nvidia GPU’s. 9400M and 9600M GT.
I’m really looking forward to the increase I. Power from my previous MBP, and can’t wait to benchmark it.
Snow Leopard has arrived

I was so excited to see my copy of Snow Leopard sitting at the house waiting for me today.
I installed it the first chance I got, and was really impressed with the changes made. Even though I had a complete backup, I opted to do the archive and install for the experience with SN. Of course I checked all my applicaions compatibility against Snow Leopard. And I also went as far as updating all of the one that had updates available. The only app that has given me issues is Media Info Mac.
I plan on doing a clean install with in the next few days to see if it makes a significant difference versus the upgrade.

Elgato Turbo.264 HD – One Week Later

Last week I purchased the Turbo.264 HD from a local retailer. To read about why I purchased it, and why I am so “geeked-up” about it, click here. For those of you who like to watch unboxings, click here.
While I was impressed with the Tubo.264 HD in my initial testing phase, I was a little disappointed with the results I was getting when exporting from iMovie 09. What I discovered, and subsequently found others reporting a similar issue, was video that was exported from iMovie 09 looked very interlaced. See Images below.
