Wicked Cool,
Just took it out of the box. 30 summary to setup with not a many problems, took like 7 USB recognitions. I never used the first one but this one is quite awesome. I am not a pro, just guy with a lotta mp3s and a awesome sight.
Long report small, you can scrape your mp3s and this makes the logic for me. It might not be pro feature but then over again you are costs 250 bucks and you aren’t export all that vinyl. Very nearly on the fiscal perspective along I would sweet much give it the 5 stars.
Okay, I have been futzing with it for like 1 month now. It freakin rocks. I just did my NYE party with it and all was entertained. Just screening this logic to particular people gets a jaw dropping look, “You can do what?!!?” is the run of the mill consequence.
You can loop sounds, set up to 5 cue points per track, and it does a sweet excellent job guesstimating the BPMs for you. The guesstimation is sweet excellent in view of the fact that it gives you more felxibility. As a substitution for of just always recall the same sons that match you see all the songs plus or minus. This is really helpful in fleshing out “mental list”. (I have like 5k songs so it is simple to get lost.)
The one doubt so far is the BPM estimator engine has a trend to hang on particular songs. This in turn jams up the total process and navy you to shut the notebook down lacking saving the info. IE, you are at song 495 of 500 when it hiccups. You lose all before estimation of the 495. This is a software problem that must not discourage you from the export the product.
Closing view: This thing is wicked awesome.
Sean
PS I am running XP with P4 1.1G with 384 RAM by USB1. Virtual DJ, the built-in software, runs well on it. I wouldn’t go any lower, normal would beyond doubt be impacted. More RAM might decipher the problem.
PPS Upgraded to a p4 1.4G with 1.2G by USB2. More RAM solved the problem, the program doesn’t bog at all any longer. I reckon the RAM is more vital than the USB2. Now have all songs on an external HD, USB2, and it runs well.

|Very excellent all-nearly laptop DJ kit with only a few real issues.,
If you are, like me, a casual, amateur DJ (or, heck even a professional) looking for a clad fee controller to laptop DJ with, give this one serious consideration. For persons thinking of vacant one step down with the cheaper vital controller, DON’T except you already have a excellent, following soundcard, in view of the fact that even with life cheaper, you’ll STILL have to come up with a way of life able to preview tracks in earphone, which you CANNOT do with the vital Hercules controller. And the addendum of persons preview features on this develop are exceptional.
Now, before I review this thing in intense, here’s ONE BIG caveat all customers must know. The MK2 DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS VISTA UNLESS YOU USE A SPECIFIC VERSION OF THE VIRTUAL DJ SOFTWARE. Sorry to say, it doesn’t work in Vista with any other DJ software, and none of the “pro” versions of VDJ. It only facility with the downloadable Vista translation of VDJ 3.4. If not, you won’t get earphone preview.
That might sound like a huge thing if you use Vista, but really…it isn’t. The translation of VDJ that facility with the controller is very excellent and has all of the core features the Pro translation has, for the most part, even the boundary if you really want to use it.
Now that that’s out of the way, the unit itself:
You can see the joystick and all in the pics, so that’s sweet much self-explanatory. The main downsides of the unit are that the pitch is a knob as a substitution for of a slider (it takes more effort to adjust pitch this way, except you screw with the MIDI sensitivity), here is no “gain” knob on the unit itself, and here is no master number control on the unit. In other terms, you cannot control the master number of the mix life send out from the unit itself, only by by the channel volumes.
Even with persons flaws, it’s subdue a very solid and well calculated food-PC for life so compact and small. It IS right that you have to be a modest careful when by it so as not to bump the wheels (at first I thought the unit was out of diplomacy all owing to playback, but it was just me nudging the wheels), but you get used to it very promptly.
The earphone port allows you to preview Deck A or B, or take note to the mix as it’s vacant out, or split each channel by number into each ear, sweet ordinary food-PC material.
The buttons on the top part of the food-PC allow you to control the looping ability, equipment, and cue points all in one place by by a pin to each following what you’re responsibility. Once you read the blue-collar and do, you’ll get the hang of the buttons, which are in fact quite usefully implemented, especially for looping.
The joystick in the middle allows you to use the composition browser OR emulate as a mouse and control your desktop. To be reliable, I don’t reckon anyone will use this in view of the fact that by a small mouse or trackball is 500 era closer and more intuitive. But, if you want a mouse emulator on your food-PC, you’ve got one.
The jog wheels manipulate the tracks record-style, but I honestly can’t comment on how excellent they are for scratching. I don’t play rap or hip-hop or no matter what thing that involves scratching, so I can’t converse in for how helpful the scratching is. To me, in person, it didn’t seem rigorous or austere ample to live up to the hassle of a scratcher/turntablist, and indeed not the incorporation joystick. But, that’s just my opinion.
You can manually mix tracks by just by the on-screen waveform displays and trying to match up beats and sync BPMs, which is in fact sweet damn austere. Or, alternately you can use the auto-sync ability which saves you a lot of effort and, for me at least, seems to work 95% of the time with pledge accuracy..even when you start/stop a track many era. The software built-in is in the end like peas in a pod to most other translation of Virtual DJ, only the boundary is different and not as simple to manipulate with a mouse in view of the fact that they doubtless figure you’ll be by the controller, which is understandable. But all the on-board equipment, samples, and tape are handled the same way. Sorry to say, I couldn’t figure out how to integrate iTunes playlists which kinda sucks, but it’s not a huge ample deal to blow down the software too much.
The buttons do have some illumination and they do glow a modest bit, but here’s now way you may maybe in fact use the unit in dark circumstances like that, so if you DO have plans to consequence in this into some dark club or something, consequence in a small, clip-on booklight or something to see the knobs and the top joystick.
The total thing runs only on USB power which is awesome in view of the fact that it means less cables and crap to involve nearly, even if you CAN externally power it if you want a modest more oomph in the enlargement department. (you have the get the plug physically, even if) It comes with a 1/4th earphone adapter for the main jack, one set of 1/8th-to-stereo-RCA cables, a moving strap for the food-PC, and cool modest…

|Fantastic DJ Tool,
I have had this product for 4 months now and I have to say that I am very pleased with all of the features it offers. At first I was disbelieving in this area by MP3s in view of the fact that I have migrated from by Vinyl to CDs and I like by both of persons types of media. But within the first hour of by this product I was amazed at how much simpler it would make life for me. I pile all of my composition on an External Hard handbook and I plot to chat tall of my Vinyl to MP3using this product. Here are more pricey units out here when this one which cost less can do the job. An bonus wits why I top out this unit as appose to the Vestax unit was the Vestax requires the use of a midi boundary everywhere the Hercules is a sound card so no boundary is vital. It just plugs and plays and plays very well to be sure. I’ve made tons of cd’s usin this thing and I have even done the score for a play and for a body construction normal. The look excellent with this thing are endless.
