Versatile array-mount with dual-personality,
The Duracell movable Mount (CEF23) is an extremely versatile mount. It in fact has two in commission modes, as elected by the MODE pin:
1. As an AA/AAA NiMH array mount, or
2. As an USB mount for USB-powered skill.
In array-mount mode, the unit is a smart mount that accepts 1-4 AA/AAA cells in any combinations. The mount can be powered by either 100-240V universal AC input, or 12V DC input. This means you can also run it from your vehicle’s cigarette lighter adapter. Note that the car adapter is built-in in the CEF23DX4N, but not in the CEF23DX2.
The charging contemporary is 550mA for each AA/AAA cell. So it takes in this area 4 hours to full charge up the built-in 2000mAh low-self-discharge cells (which are the Duracell-equivalent of Sanyo eneloop). I thought-out this a excellent negotiate between shorter charging time and longer array lifespan. Once charging is done, the contemporary is cut-rate to 25mA (in fact 0-50mA pulsed at 50% duty cycle) in drop charge mode.
One really nice figure of this mount is that it has four party array status indicator illumination. The status set alight for each cell turns RED when charging, GREEN when the cell is fully exciting. It will even blink if you accidentally inserted an alkaline cell.
In USB mount mode, the unit generates a synchronized 5-volt supply at its USB socket. You can then connect an USB-powered device (such as IPOD mount) to this unit. Input power for this USB mount can be from one of the later sources:
1. From 100-240V universal AC input,
2. From 12V DC input (car adapter), or
3. From four AA/AAA NiMH cells in the array compartment.
The third way is the most fascinating, in view of the fact that in case of urgent circumstances, you can even use 4 alkaline cells to power this USB mount, in diplomacy to charge up your cell buzz’s array.
I must say that this mount is really well calculated. It is a fantastic bargain even if all you need is a unadorned array mount. The USB mount mode is just an superfluous bonus.
[Update on Oct 7, 2010]:
Duracell has discontinued the brilliant CEF23 mount (at least in the US) last year. So prices for the remaining supply have skyrocketed. The substitution product (Duracell Go movable Mount) only charges in pairs, and does not control an USB mount.
- If you just need an inexpensive 2-cell mount that can soubriquet party cell, thought-out the Sanyo eneloop MDR02.
- If you need a excellent 4-cell mount that can run from 12V cigarette lighter adapter, thought-out the Targus LCD2700 with LCD Spectacle
- If you need an advanced mount that can run from 12V CLA, thought-out the La Crosse Technology BC500
- If you need a excellent 4-cell mount that can run from 12V CLA _and_ can power an USB port by internal batteries… Sorry! Your best hope is to look for an global translation of CEF23.
[Update on Dec 1, 2010]
Just in case anyone is subdue attracted in this mount: I just establish out that its USB port is competent of supplying 1000mA productivity contemporary – even even if the spec says 500mA only. I exposed this by accident when by it as a portable recharger for my Archos 5 500 GB Internet Dosage.

|Exact Mount,
I’ve done a lot of research on batteries and chargers, and I have to say I’m impressed with this mount. I am a photographer, and my like flashes are only as excellent as the batteries they use. Other reviews have already confirmed the high points: gentle charge rate (550 mA is fantastic); party charging of batteries (absolutely vital); intelligent shutoff (does not overcharge). On top of these, it runs off of 12V and any AC wall power in the planet (120-240V), and it charges USB skill. It also will charge a USB device off of 4 exciting batteries. It’s a awesome sight come right.
One thing to note: You cannot charge batteries AND charge a USB device at the same time. You have to pick one or the other. But this is a very minor come forth for something so functional, portable, and inexpensive.
High and mighty it doesn’t die in two months, this is the best consumer mount that is widely available. (I also have the Maha C-9000, which I like, but is not for the faint of sensitivity. The Maha C401FS is also very excellent.)
If you’re even considering export one of persons 15-small chargers, PLEASE don’t. It will end your batteries by cooking them at a high temperature. Buy this one, as a substitution for. Just get an superfluous set of batteries to swap out while the others are charging, if you need the quick turnaround.

|brilliant kit,
First, a note on what’s built-in: 2AA, 2AAA, a mount, and a car adaptor. It does not come with a usb cable. You can see the consumer photos I uploaded.
As prominent by others, these batteries are “highly akin” if not like peas in a pod to Eneloops. So the batteries are fantastic.
For AA, I like the mount built-in in this kit more than the one in this Eneloop kit for two reasons:
1. Each slot has its own party indicator so you know which array is done. Equally much, you can detect terrible batteries in a set. Say you always use four as a set but one abruptly finishes charging a lot before than the other three, it’s time for hard. (For hard, I use Maha MH-C9000.)
2. It charges closer, at 550mA, so the 2000mAh AA batteries charge in in this area four hours.
Sorry to say 500mA is also how it charges AAA batteries. Contrast this to the Eneloop mount in the kit higher than: 300mA for AA and 160mA for AAA. We see that the Eneloop mount is a lot more gentle for AAA. (I won’t charge my AAA in this Duracell mount.)

|I’ll indeed up-date the blog as soon as possible.l have more austere information a propos the theme! With best regards,
A lot of what you top out is astonishingly austere and that makes me ponder the wits why I had not looked at this in this set alight before. This particular piece truly did turn the set alight on for me in person as far as this point theme goes. Nevertheless here is one top I am not really too comfortable with and while I try to reconcile that with the real main theme of your spot, permit me see exactly what all the rest of your subscribers have to say.Very well done.
