Snow Leopard has arrived

August 28, 2009 by Doug · View Comments

I was so excited to see my copy of Snow Leopard sitting at the house waiting for me today.

snl_thumbI installed it the first chance I got, and was really impressed with the changes made. Even though I had a complete backup, I opted to do the archive and install for the experience with SN. Of course I checked all my applicaions compatibility against Snow Leopard. And I also went as far as updating all of the one that had updates available. The only app that has given me issues is Media Info Mac.

I plan on doing a clean install with in the next few days to see if it makes a significant difference versus the upgrade.

Review: Griffin PowerBlock Reserve

August 22, 2009 by Doug · View Comments

griffin-powerblockLike many owners of today’s large screen smart phones, I often find myself needing somewhat of a boost for my iPhone 3GS.

After all, I am what you can consider a heavy smart phone user, and I can mostly get through the day with my battery being fully charged when I leave in the mornings, and also by utilizing my vehicle charger. But there are days and situations where I can’t get to my AC or vehicle chargers, and I need a little something-something to last till I get home.

Enter the Griffin PowerBlock Reserve. This battery and charger combo is just what I needed to “juice-up” when I can’t otherwise do so. In my testing, the PowerBlock Reserve battery comes with 45 minutes of charge, and depending on your usage, you can expect to see anywhere from 22%-50% charge to your iPhone.

One of my favorite features of this product is the slight elevation of the doc connector. This allows you to connect the battery to your iPhone with out needing to remove the your iPhone from it’s protective case. If you use one.

The PowerBlock Reserve comes with the battery and AC charger that has a USB port on the bottom of the unit so you can charge your iPhone/iPod with your charge/sync cable, and the external PowerBlock Reserve battery at the same time. And with a MSRP of $39.99, it’s a hard bargain to pass up.

Battery is available separately as a spare, and is interchangeable with PowerJolt Reserve 12 V DC Charger (sold separately, or together in the PowerDuo Reserve Bundle)

I was encouraged to repost this video, so, here it is. Originally, it was posted in four parts as I shot them with my iPhone 3GS. But since I was persuaded to repost it, I merged the videos together.
Enjoy!
