Amazon opens up digital download store

Amazon has opened their previous private beta to everyone and its called Amazonmp3.

They currently have around 2 million tracks from 180,000 artists for sale at 89¢ and 99¢, and full albums starting at $4.99. And best of all, all tracks are DRM free. iTunes finally has some competition.

Zune 2 release dates leaked?

Engadget is reporting that the new Zune’s or Zune 2 portable media players will be hitting the street on October 16th. The new flash model code name Draco will come in two sizes, 4GB and 8GB. And the hard drive based player code name Scorpio will have an 80GB hard drive.

iPhone headed to the UK

Apple today announced that O2 will be the exclusive carrier for the Apple iPhone in the UK.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with O2 to offer our revolutionary iPhone to UK customers,” said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs. “US iPhone customer satisfaction is off the charts, and we can’t wait to let UK customers get their hands on it and learn what they think of it.”

The 8GB iPhone is scheduled to go on sale for £269 on November 9, and will be sold exclusively in the UK through Apple’s retail and online stores, O2 and The Carphone Warehouse’s retail and online stores.

Apple UK to hold special event on Sept 18th

Apple UK has sent out invitations to their special event to be held at the Apple Store in London on Regents St. The event invitation proclaims: “Mum is no longer the word” but when asked about it, Apple PR is saying “mum is the word until September 18th.” We can only suspect that Apple will be announcing the availability to the UK of the iPhone.
